Demand Connection (DCC)

Principal objectives and contents 

Commission Regulation (EU) 2016/1388 establishing a network code on demand connection (Demand Connection Code, DCC) entered into force on 7 September 2016.  

The DCC aims to establish harmonised rules for grid connection for demand facilities and distribution networks. This is to:  

  • provide a clear legal framework for grid connections;  

  • facilitate Union-wide trade in electricity;  

  • ensure system security;  

  • facilitate the integration of renewable energy sources; and increase competition, for the benefit of consumers
